Changes to the booking process for motorcycle testingWhile we were still in the grips of the Covid pandemic, the DVSA changed the requirements and the way ATB’s booked tests on behalf of their customers and students. Old Practice – pre 25/05/23 They only had to supply candidate names for a test one hour before the actual test, because if a person taking a test had Covid it could be changed at the last minute for another student. As from Thursday 25th May 2023 ATB’s must supply candidate names on the Trainer Booking Facility at least one clear working day before the motorcycle test. Naming tests Example 1 Naming a test means it would have to be submitted by 9pm on a Monday evening for a test that was booked on the Wednesday. Naming tests Example 2 Also if a test was booked for a Tuesday, it would have to be named by 9pm the Saturday evening before the test date. Changing the candidates name Once the test slot has been named, ATB’s will still be able to change the candidate details up to one hour before the actual test time. This still allows for least minute changes and results in no fees being lost. Test fee forfeited if… If the ATB doesn’t provide a name for a test slot that has been purchased before the deadlines mentioned above, the DVSA can revoke the slot (and keep the fee) so it can be offered to other candidates! There are no changes to notification periods for cancelling tests – details of which can found on GOV.UK. |
